Big Brass Bed

Big Brass Bed (ON) is a four-year-old chestnut mare purchased by As One in November 2023. A daughter of Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist and the Smart Strike mare Precision Farming, Big Brass Bed’s breeding provides a good balance of speed and stamina.

Our newest member of the As One stable started her racing career for her prior owner under trainer Chad Brown in April 2023 with a solid third pace finish in a maiden special weight race at Gulfstream Park. From there, she raced again in May and earned her first win in impressive style at Monmouth Park. Following that effort, she finished a competitive fourth in June at Belmont Park and sixth in the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks in July. She was then given some time off to continue to develop and ready herself for more racing.

Following As One’s purchase of Big Brass Bed, she has been under the training of Brendan Walsh in Florida preparing for her 2024 campaign, starting with her appearance at Gulfstream Park on Pegasus Day.

Last Race

Big Brass Bed came out of her January race at Gulfstream well returned to action on Sunday, March 3. Our girl took on 11 other fillies and mares in a one mile turf allowance carded as Race 6 at Gulfstream Park. Jockey Tyler Gaffalione piloted Big Brass Bed and had her placed just behind the leaders early. After dropping back coming into the final turn, Big Brass Bed showed heart coming down the stretch passing several rivals to finish a closing 5th.

Next Race

Big Brass Bed came out of her March 3 race well and is entered in a competitive allowance race at Keeneland on Sunday, April 14. Carded as Race 7, Big Brass Bed will compete against 11 other fillies and mares in the 1 1/8 mile race on the turf. Talented jockey Flavien Prat will steer our filly as he rides Big Brass Bed from the outside post position with the number 11 saddle cloth. A large group of As One partners is sure to be on hand at the historic and beautiful Keeneland racetrack.
